Poker Tracker 3: Customizing HUD
Customizing the PT3 HUD
Most of this is personal preference. My mission is to help you use Poker Tracker to increase your win rate. This section doesn’t have much to do with that, so I’ll be keeping it short. There are three things you can do here–two of them are cool and can help, and one of them is trivial:
- Customize the PT3 HUD pop ups. If you’re new to PT3, you might not know yet that if you click on a stat on your HUD, it will open a pop up window with additional stats related to that stat. By going to the Groups tab of the “configure HUD” box, you can pick and choose how your pop ups work. I recommend playing out a decent sample of hands before you change the default settings. Play your hands and keep in the back of your mind the question “which information do I look for most often.” Then decide whether to trim your HUD so that information is easier to find, or whether to actually move it to your HUD.
- You can color code your stats. You can also color code your stats to change colors for various values for that stat; so if you want fishy VPIPs to show up as Green and TAg VPIPs to show up red, you can do that. I used to color code my stats, but I lost track of my color coding moving stats in and out of my HUD. I don’t think color coding is that useful. But when I color coded, I used a stop-light system. Basically, I defined a range of values for each stat that I considered exploitable, marginally exploitable and unsafe to exploit, and then I color coded them green, yellow and red, respectively. This served as a visual reminder of how to approach the villain in that specific situation.
- Back on the reports page, click on the settings box and set your player name (this will only work when you have hands in your database. Poker Tracker 3 will now open to your stats each time you open it.
